I haven't been sleeping... but I certainly need it!
09th July 2025

July seems to bring endless highlights and events to photograph.

Inevitably as I can't be in front of the screen editing whilst I'm out doing the fun part of my job.... actually taking photos (and having a good time) there is a backlog of updates to the website.

But I promise I haven't been sleeping (although god knows I could do with a few good nights worth).

However I'm really enjoying the Chaos Music & Bike Festival edit as it was such good fun this year.

I've started on day two, Saturday, and you will find all the latest photos by clicking this link:

Oh dear, what a lot of beer and bands....
07th July 2025

With the legendary Greenman Chaos Band & Bike Festival coming to an end in 2025 there was an air of sadness around the Pleinmont cliff-top festival site.

But that didn't last too long as we all realised that we had a duty to send it off in biker style.... loud, lively, burnouts, bands, beer and partying... oh and more beer!

It's fair to say that everyone stepped up to the challenge and many great memories were added to the pile.

As usual my edit is massive and it will take some time to complete but it is always worth a new look at the gallery to see the latest updates....

Guernsey Together Festival in the sun.... perfect!
20th June 2025

It's already coming up to a week gone since the 2025 Guernsey Together Festival. Time really fly's by when I'm gardening! Well it has been a great week to get out and catch up with the weeding!

But I've now also caught up with the editing!

This years GTF vintage was just a one-day affair but the festival still managed to include most of what we were expecting. This festival is all about keeping it local and celebrating our local bands.

The line-up kept the chilled crowd entertained and there was a great family atmosphere. Even the sun turned up this time!

And I've just noticed that the dates for 2026 have been announced so it looks like Guernsey Together has more left in the tank. See you there next year?

WOW, what a beautiful E-Type....
15th June 2025

It was a shame that my time was limited at the 2025 Guernsey Classic Vehicle Club's show at Saumarez Park.

The sunny day was perfect for showing off the polished paintwork and chrome of the cars and bikes that filled the arena.

There were so many special vehicles to look at... it's amazing to see how many classics hide away all year in Guernsey!

I think my 'best of show' was the charcoal E-Type Jaguar. This was truly a car of my boyhood dreams!

Guernsey Athletics make good use of Footes Lane facilities.....
13th June 2025

There was lots of activity spread around all the Guernsey Athletics ground at Footes Lane on Thursday evening.

Whilst I was there specifically to photograph the Aztec Field Fest it was clear that the facilities are used throughout the week by the Club as they train and encourage athletes across all the disciplines.

As we enjoyed the lovely sunny evening it was a pleasure capturing photos of the High Jump, Javelin and Triple Jump.

Music needs to be experienced live... and I have proof
10th June 2025

CLICK HERE TO VIEW PHOTOS OF GURRIERS
If we needed proof that music needs to be experienced live then we were given it when a select sold-out crowd experienced Gurriers playing in The Pit at St James recently.

I know I'm stating the obvious but we should remember that mankind has been creating music from the start of time. And all through the ages those rhythms and sounds were enjoyed 'live' and together with others.

That is until the recorded forms of music arrived. It is only (relatively) recently that the majority of people only ever experience music listening to these 'packaged performances'... and very often alone!

So to get to my point. The line-up at St James offered three amazing bands to enjoy (in company). Just like it was made for!

Hanging Pieces and Pillars did a great job as support acts but Gurriers topped the night with a performance that left no-one wanting anything... apart from an encore!

Thank you St James for letting us experience live music just as it should be served!

I photographed all three Bands and these links will take you to the Galleries:

A jump that will make legends......
08th June 2025

Fantastic racing at the GVC Adventure Cycles 2025 Gravity Series_Round 4. The morning's action was spread over two venues, the Ronez Quarry MTB trail and at the Guet.

There was a (soon to be legendary) jump at the Guet which certainly sorted the men from the boys... well you had to be over 18 to even try it!

However a few of the youngsters I spoke to said that, given the chance, they would have been up for it! They know no fear!

Check out my photos for all the action:

Rangers Super 7's build the foundations for Guernsey's football future....
01st June 2025

Photos of the 2025 Rangers Super 7's Football event at KGV are now online.

This two-day competition and celebration of our future football stars has to be one of the biggest and busiest Sports events in the Guernsey calendar....

Photos of the weather delayed Basketball Inter-insulars.....
30th May 2025

After a weather delayed start it was touch and go whether I'd have time to fit in coverage of the recent U16 Girls and Senior Men's Basketball Inter-insulars.

In the end I managed to get away from the Rangers 7's football for a short time and I've added my Basketball photos to the website.

Future stars shine bright.....
13th May 2025

....and to follow up on my previous question asking 'How can a small Island keep producing so many good bands?' Well maybe I have some of the answer.

For a decade now our youngsters have had access to specialist modern music schools. Gone is the expectation that formal music training is the only route to a fulfilling musical life! It has been proven that a new approach such as the one championed by the School of Popular Music will nurture the talent of the future.

I recently photographed the SoPM Easter Gig, something I've been doing for a decade, and over the years I've witnessed first hand where the next bands will come from!

There's a new Gallery of my photos online if you want an early look at the future stars....

Amish Car Thieves steal the limelight....
13th May 2025

I don't think the subject has ever been investigated but maybe there's something for a University study here!!

The question is.... and this has to be asked with the knowledge that Guernsey is a small place, maybe just like a medium sized town in the UK....

So how does our little Isle keep producing so many brilliant bands across many musical genres?

Is it something in the water? Whisky in my case, ha, ha!

One of the new additions to my 'Bands Hall of Fame' are the Amish Car Thieves. I encourage you to get out to one of their gigs. They're really good!

Oh, If you want a proper written review you must check out Tommy Girard's writings. As you can tell from my words, I have the writing skills of a photographer!!!

The youngsters battle for the Corbet Shield.....
12th May 2025

With the footie season coming to an end another Guernsey Football Association final showcasing the Islands future stars has taken place.

This was the other game of the 'double-header' at the Corbet Field when the Corbet Cup was also contested.

The finalists for the Corbet Shield were Rihoy North v Rovers and it was Rihoy North who lifted the Shield with a 5-1 victory.

Great win guys.

A traditional start to the Guernsey Liberation Day....
10th May 2025

It's an Island tradition but also one of my own.

This is the start of Guernsey's Liberation Day.

Two of the first events of the day are the running (literally) of the LIB 7 Road Race from Rousse to St Peter Port and the Liberation Day Schools Relay along the St Peter Port seafront.

The challenge for me is being at the start of the LIB 7 at 9am then get along to Town for the Schools Relay at 9.15am.

You can probably work it out that this is near impossible - especially as town parking on Lib Day is greatly reduced!

I failed the impossible but did arrive just in time to photograph the end of the ladies race, phew!

Both events have a few photos online. Click the link to view them:

One word...... 'SPECTACULAR'!
09th May 2025

In just one word I think the 2025 Liberation Day (the 80th) in St Peter Port was 'Spectacular'!

And if you want the longer version here is how my Thesaurus describes 'Spectacular'.....

grand, splendid, magnificent, sensational, impressive, glorious, striking, stunning, staggering, amazing, astonishing, extraordinary, outstanding, remarkable, dramatic, daring, breathtaking, dazzling, eye-catching, colourful, ostentatious, flamboyant

It was all of those!

Thank you to the many who put so much of their time into making 'Lib 80' happen and to all those who joined their fellow Islanders to celebrate such an important day.

I took a few photos and they are now featured on my website if you are interested:

Sport at its best.... if your nerves can take it!
06th May 2025

Photos of the 2025 Under 15's Star Trophy football at Victoria Park Guernsey are now online.

There was an amazing atmosphere in support of the young Guernsey side showing once again how the new VP can play a role in lifting performances.

The Greens couldn't be faulted as they used every ounce of energy and passion chasing the win. But after a roller-coaster of a game it all came down to penalties with Jersey taking the Trophy.... but it could have easily gone the other way!

Well done to all the players. You certainly entertained us.

Breaking News. Time travelling is a real thing......
05th May 2025

I now have proof that Time Travelling really is a thing.

All you need is a Band from the past, a Venue from the past and a few beers..... POW! You're back in the 80's!!!!!

My latest trip back was to see The Risk at the 'Tav. Brilliant stuff!

I took a few pics and they can be viewed on my website if you are interested:

Why does there have to be a winner.....
03rd May 2025

It was one of those games where it's a shame that there had to be a winner.

But this being an Offshore Commercial Guernsey FA Cup Semi-final we knew that there had to be a result... even if it took penalties.

But it didn't come to that as North fired home a winner on 84 minutes.

Their opponents, Elizabeth College, had amassed good support for the game and truthfully if they had taken the win no-one could have questioned that their work rate deserved a reward.

It was a hugely enjoyable game to photograph... hence the number of photos I ended up with. Click the link to view them:

I head North for the CI Snooker Final.....
26th April 2025

I headed North last night to photograph the 2025 Channel Island Snooker Final at North Social Club between Paul Le Sauvage and Aaron Canavan.

This was just one of the weekends inter-Island snooker events.

There was great support for the two contenders as they played for the prestigious CI individual snooker trophy. I only watched the first couple of frames and the early results suggested that the Jersey-man, who was the bookies favourite, was heading for a twelfth title!

Take a look at my photos here:

Gareth Le Prevost's Guernsey Press report is spot on.....
23rd April 2025

The Sports Editor for the Guernsey Press nailed it in his report on the latest GFC game against Kingstonian. I recommend the read.

His headline was 'The luck goes against GFC' and certainly the score-line of 0-3 was no reflection of the run of play where the whole GFC squad displayed so much determination and passion in to their play as they fight relegation with just two away games left.

I thought the 1,200+ supporters at Victoria Park should be credited for the understanding and backing that they gave GFC. Non of them liked the result but there was a definite 'we're all in this together' vibe on the day.

There were plenty of positives to be enjoyed. Victoria Park again showed the role it will have into the future and the GFC squad just need a turn-around in their luck. It will come.....
