Did you know that some photographers have a Super Power?

Yes, we have the ability to be in two places at the same time... well almost!

I exercised my Super Power on Sunday afternoon when two of my assignments were scheduled around the same time... but I was up to the job, and I have photos to prove it!

Luckily for me both photoshoots were within a hundred metres of each other so I didn't even need to run!

One event was the Charity Car Pull in aid of the St John Ambulance and Rescue Service Flying Christine III. The car in question was a highly modified vehicle which now floats! It is the intention to 'sail' it to Herm then onward to Sark. Good luck lads!

The second event also involved water as it was the annual BWCI Open Castle Swim which attracted a massive entry!

Photos of the first Round of the 2026 Rawlinson Cup at The Track between North AC v St Martins AC are now online.

This assignment was a little different to the norm as I was tasked with capturing a 'mug shot' of all the players in action.

At the start of a season Sports Editors like a few 'bankers' for use when a player is featured in reports.

I always find that as a photographer this is one of my hardest jobs! I end up taking more photos than my 'normal' coverage of a game (400 in this case) just to be sure I have a useable pic of (most) players - without any opposition players in the background!

This is too much stress for a man of my age but I'm now calming down after a bit of anger management therapy! This was the result from my capturing too many backs of heads, ugly grimaces, tongues out, head down, head up, eyes closed, opposition in the background..... I could go on!!!!

But I'm now calming down after a drop of anger management therapy (read beer)!

There was a friendly... but competitive atmosphere at the Northerners AC Club House on Saturday evening when I popped in to take a few photos of the 2026 Guernsey Grand Slam of Darts.

When you take into account that the favourite and eventual winner was a Jerseyman this was a little odd!

But don't forget that the sport of Darts is usually played in a pub or bar and those places are built around socialising with friends.

So it was fun to enjoy the banter and the beer whilst all the battles took place at the Oche!

Photos of the opening game of the 2026 Southern Combination Premier Division for Guernsey FC at Victoria Park are now online.

Guernsey FC made the perfect start to their season by beating visitors Pagham FC 3-0.

Before the kick-off the talk around Victoria Park was that it seemed only days since the end of last season and questions about how the Manager, Tony Vance, and the players would generate the motivation and fitness for what will be another long season.

They certainly ticked the first box. Let's support our team and help energise them through the inevitable ups and downs!

The GVC Downhill Racing MTB riders were out and about at Petit Bot on Sunday morning.

After the extended dry spell the wooded area was bone dry and the downhill track was dusty offering very little grip.

But of course non of that slowed the downhillers in their hunt for the fastest times!

John Mapley was well clear of the field with a best time of 35:60 but the next five riders, whilst two seconds slower than John, were all bunched with less that a second between them. Great racing guys!

I spent the morning trying to balance on the slippery slopes whilst taking some 'panning' shots in very contrasty light.

Two late arrivals from the editing desk are now online.

Looking back two weeks (it feels like longer!) the Guernsey Velo Club's Adventure Cycles Tour of Guernsey was in full swing.

Also, the Jersey and Guernsey Rounds of the British Hillclimb Championships featured in my diary. It was a busy week which was followed by a week that was filled by the All Terrain Challenge!

So back to the late arrivals mentioned above. I've only just got around to adding the final Tour of Guernsey photos.... Round 4 (Ronez Quarry) and Round 5 (Ronez Monmains) to my website.

With barely time to sleep, the last four weeks has seen daily events across the Islands and what seems like non-stop editing!

I still have lots to catch up with... but I have ticked the All Terrain Challenge box with photos of Day 7 in Herm now online.

This event really offers the 'challenge' in the title.

Herm has more hills than you'd think.... and running along Shell Beach is brutal (I've been told)!!!

Everyday of the week long ATC has been different but it really hits a high with the 5km and 10km runs set over a surprisingly tough course in the picturesque Herm Island.

So it's no surprise that, after the week of exertion, the runners relax and party in The Mermaid after completing the event. Nobody was bothered about diet and calories for the one night of revelry! Party On!

I've had my own Tour of the Channel Islands during the last 10 days covering a real variety of events and sports... climbing lots of hills whilst loaded with kit!

Great fun but tiring (for a man of my age... oh, those aching bones)!

The edits are getting worked through and I've just uploaded photos of ROUND 6 of the Guernsey Velo Club's 'Tour of Guernsey'.

This time the riders visited the Motocross track on Sunday morning.

I've still got a couple more of the evening races to finish editing.

Guernsey's endurance athletes were out early on Sunday morning at Rocquaine for the Guernsey Triathlon Club's Sprint & Super Sprint Triathlon races.

At each event there seem to be new faces taking part in the swim/cycle/run with a genuine mix of abilities and ages. The one thread that is the same amongst all those taking part is that the real challenge is personal.... just to finish the race is a great achievement!

The Guernsey Velo Club's busy week consists of events all around the Island.

So the name is perfect! The Tour of Guernsey!

Riders are set a different challenge every day meaning that some of the courses will suit one rider... then the next day could be something that suits another.

Overall I thing the vast majority of riders are taking part just for the fun, the camaraderie and the variety of rides.

Photos of the Mike Thomas Trophy football at Victoria Park are now online.

Guernsey FC played the oldest Club in football Sheffield FC in what was a very early start to the season. Both sides lacked a couple of important 'regulars' but the game was certainly entertaining for the local supporters as Guernsey walked away with the trophy!

This friendly game also gave the GFC coach a chance to give a few youngsters a run-out.

Following on from photographing the first game in the 2026 Cherry Godfrey Cup I returned to Victoria Park for the dramatic Cup Final between Jersey Women and the Isle of Man Women.

During normal time it was the Isle of Man who looked the stronger side.... until the final moments when Jersey scrambled an equaliser.

So on to penalties and all the tension supporters could handle as the keepers played their part by making saves. With the score at 5-5 somebody had to break the deadlock and it was Jersey who came out on top!

It's nothing unusual for me to be playing catch up at this time of year. There is so much going on.

But I've tried to be disciplined (no gardening for me!) and a new gallery of photos is the result!

Round 6 of the Guernsey Velo Club's 2026 Cross Country Series had an additional importance as it also incorporated the XC MTB Inter Insular races.

Several classes competed along a picturesque course laid out on L'ancresse Common.

Photographing some of the action was my first job on Sunday morning before heading off to St Peter Port for the Havelet Regatta.

The weekend was, once again, proof of how varied and interesting life as a photographer can be.

I'll fill in a few more details as I complete the edits but for now I've just uploaded photos of Sunday's GVC Downhill Racing event at Pleinmont.

Always a challenging sport to photograph but made harder this time by the very high contrast between shadows and highlights on the slopes under the trees.

A warm bright sunny summers morning offered photographers perfect conditions for colourful photos... but maybe less ideal conditions for the athletes competing in a 10K run!

The Guernsey Athletics Fathers Day run always features competitive running at the front however once you look down the entry you see many runners with their own targets. Maybe looking to beat PB's or simply to tick the 10K box.

It doesn't matter if a Sport involves riding a bike or a horse I'm interested in photographing the action!

I was able to make two short visits to the BS Guernsey Derby Show weekend and enjoyed the bright, clear light. This always improves the clarity of the pics.

A seven am race start on a Sunday morning for a sport photography job has to either be for a Velo Club event or a Guernsey Triathlon Club event.

Yesterday it was the Tri-athletes who enticed me out of bed for their Pembroke Super Sprint, Sprint and Novice Triathlon.

We were all able to enjoy a beautiful summer morning on the Guernsey coastline and I was even back home in time for breakfast!

Last weekend left me in no doubt that football still leads the Sports when it comes down to numbers.

I spent time on Saturday and Sunday at Victoria Park photographing the 2026 BWCI Mini Soccer Festival.

Beyond the number of young players taking part from Alderney, Guernsey and Jersey it was the passion and enthusiasm seen on the pitch that impressed.

The format is non-stop with short games and once Sunday's games were played there had to be a winner.... and with no extra time it was straight to penalties!

The scene was set for great drama and tension with the youngsters stepping up with calm confidence and maturity.

But I definitely saw a few parents falling to pieces whilst the shoot-outs progressed!

I've photographed the Corbet Cup and Corbet Shield finals a couple of times over the years.

The 2026 edition of this under 12's football knockout competition reached the finals night yesterday and I popped along to the Corbet Field to photograph some of the action.

I found that here were a couple of stand-out things that made the night so memorable.

First was the unstoppable enthusiasm shown by all the teams and every player. The youngsters exhibited endless energy and passion for the game of football.... and more than a little skill!

Secondly, it was the atmosphere around the ground. The stand was packed with a crowd of family and friends who made plenty of noise supporting their team. This showcased how well Sport brings families and people together to share an experience.
