Pics of the last Autocross racing before the Summer break
16th May 2011
The Guernsey Autocross Club held Round-4 of their Summer Championship at Chouet Beach yesterday. The racing now takes a break until the Autumn. The track layout had to be adapted to compensate for the condition of the beach but nothing was going to prevent a good days racing.
As always there were a few roll-overs - three by a little yellow Fiat - now that's just greedy! I managed to capture two of them!
A new gallery of pics has now been added.

Round-1 of the Summer Sand Racing Championship... and it rained!
11th May 2011
We must hope that it hasn't established what type of weather we will have for the 2011 Guernsey Motor Cycle & Car Club Sand Racing Championship on Vazon beach but Round-1 was pretty miserable!
It was a shame because there were a few new riders and sliders turning out - and we don't want to put them off this early in the season!
I guess though that when you are racing you expect to get wet and covered in sand - so a bit off rain makes no difference. It is the poor photographer who has to struggle to keep his kit dry and the lens free from splashes.
However it was good to be back on the beach, I managed to get a few pictures and they are now on-line.

Guernseymotorsport.com sponsor Round-2 of Kart Championship
05th May 2011
I was pleased to be able to sponsor Round-2 of the Guernsey Kart & Motor Club Summer Kart Championship last Sunday at 'The Track'.
I am probably recognised for attending most of the Motor Sport events held on this little Island and like to help the Clubs continue to organise these meetings. Sponsorship helps a little towards the heavy costs associated with these events.
Kart racing represents the only 'tarmac circuit' racing available in Guernsey and the Cadet Classes are a good training ground for future talent. So I feel I am 'doing my bit' towards the continuation of the sport.
Now the 'hard sell'!! I have added a Gallery of new pictures which can be purchased on-line by simply clicking on the BUY NOW button... sales pitch over!

GMC&CC Hill Climb rained off early...
04th May 2011
The Bank Holiday Monday proved to be a bit of a let-down for a couple of Guernsey's sporting events. The Horse Racing was called off early due to the wet conditions and the Hill Climb also went the same way.
With so few opportunities to race 'The Terres' each year it is a real shame when the racing is cancelled.
Having said that, it was pretty wet! However there is opportunity, when properly kitted out with rain protection for the cameras and lens, to get a few more unusual pics... but things finished a bit too soon for me! Oh well, I did manage a few 'wet pics'.
Check-out the new Galleries here.

Well they kept everything crossed in the hope that the fine weather would last... and it worked! The racers were out on Bank Holiday Monday for the first Hill Climb up Les Val des Terres in 2011. The conditions couldn't have been better and several records were broken.
Pictures of the Guernsey Motor Cycle & Car Club Hill Climb are now online.

Round-2 of the Guernsey Powerboat Association Racing...
24th April 2011
Round-2 of The Guernsey Powerboat Association Championship took place today over the Havelet Course. Once again the conditions were exceptional. I photographed this Round from the shore as the course bought the racers quite close when they took the turn in Havelet Bay.
I have added a new Gallery of pictures. Please remember that web graphics are very low resolution and do not show the details of a print.

The Guernsey Powerboat Association 2011 Championship gets underway...
23rd April 2011
The Guernsey Powerboat Association held Round-1 of their 2011 Championship around the 'North Beach Outer' Course today in sunny conditions that can only be described as 'Summertime'. With flat calm waters the racers were treated to a smooth ride... not something these guys enjoy that often!
The event was well organised with a reasonable turn-out of competitors, but with a promise of others joining during the season and a few drivers looking to put new boats in the water things can only get better.
I must thank Dave Corbet for working so hard to get me into position for the pics and placing me close to the action on his Rib which also acted as the finishing boat.
I really enjoyed the bright weather - always helps to make the pics. Shame there wasn't a bit more swell to lift the boats out of the water a bit more... oh well, you'll never find a photographer who thinks everything is perfect, he, he!!

Round 2 of the Guernsey Autocross Club Summer Championship...
18th April 2011
It has been a weekend packed with Motor Sport action - all held in the glorious Guernsey sunshine. Let's hope that the good conditions last for the next few Bank Holiday weekends which see the return of the Hill Climb season... fingers crossed!
Firstly it was the Heritage Group Public Sprint at Vazon. Check the Galleries here.

Next up was the Guernsey Autocross Club Summer Championship at Chouet beach. I captured a couple of nice roll-overs by Becky Martin & Leeroy. These have also been added to Crashes 'The Hall of Fame'!

Heritage Charity Sprint... Pictures now online...
17th April 2011
There was a fantastic turn-out of spectators to support the racers in the second Heritage Group Public Sprint at Vazon Coast Road, Guernsey.
The conditions were perfect for an enjoyable afternoon of racing - all with the aim of raising funds for The Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief.
It was announced on Saturday evening during the Dinner at La Grande Mare Hotel that well over £30,000 has already been raised with more sponsorship still to be returned! This qualifies as another huge success for Stuart Butler and his group of helpers.
The Galleries have now been updated with the days racing action including a few pics from the Dinner.
I am donating 25% of all picture sales to the Society.

A sunny Saturday afternoon was the perfect setting for the second Heritage Group Charity Sprint. This time it was in aid of the Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief.
A good selection of cars had the chance to race at speeds far greater than the normal 35mph speed limit on Vazon Coast Road. I was there to capture all the action.
A full Gallery of pictures will be added by Monday eve... when I have had a chance to sort several hundred pics!

Records are lowered at the first meeting of the Summer Championship...
11th April 2011
The Guernsey Kart & Motor Club held Round 1 of their Summer Kart Championship at 'The Track' on Sunday. The conditions were perfect and a significant record was broken when Colin Laine was the first driver to break the 19 second barrier for a lap of the track. Colin was racing his KF1 Tonykart Vortex. Another record was re-written by Kasey Watson in the Rotax Junior Max Class.

The Tarmac Racing Season begins...
04th April 2011
The Tarmac Racing Season kicked off for 2011 when the Guernsey Kart & Motor Club held the first Sprint Championship meeting at Vazon Coast Road on Saturday. The conditions were generally good (at least it was dry!) with a slight head wind at the end of the run.
The first 'run-out' of the year sees various 'winter projects' on the track for the first time and the day was used as a shake-down by a few of the competitors. However there are goods signs already of another highly competitive season.
I have now added a new Gallery of pictures.

Too much sun can do strange things to a person!
21st March 2011
In my case the glorious, sunny weekend had the effect on me of making me a bit 'trigger happy'. I am normally a photographer who likes to take the minimum amount of pictures.
There is normally only one picture that is 'the shot' out of any sequence. I try and just take that shot. Of course I miss a few pics that would have been better - but it saves a great deal of time in the editing.
Things went a bit wrong last weekend - and I blame the weather!
I took more pictures than usual so I have added over 300 to the Motor Sport Gallery.

Guernsey Autocross Club Fun Meeting...
20th March 2011
The Guernsey Autocross Club held its Annual Fun Meeting today in the glorious sunshine of an early Spring afternoon... Chouet beach was a nice place to be!
This meeting marks the end of the Winter Championship and the competitors enjoy the fact that no Championship points are 'up for grabs'. There are always a few 'fun meeting specials' out on the sand with the specific intention of sending them to the great scrap yard in the sky.
So, bring on the action!
I have added a new gallery of pictures of the racing. This includes one of the roll-overs... and make sure you check-out the last sequence of pictures in the gallery - how did Shane Le Poidevin manage to avoid rolling? Particulaly as he seemed to be trying so hard to turn his world upside down!
VIEW THE AUTOCROSS FUN MEETING GALLERY
A tradition of the Fun Meeting is to invite 'the Media' along for a play. There was a good turn-out this year and the race was won by Russel Torode, cameraman for Channel Television ahead of Mark Trenchard from Island FM and James Bentley from Net Play.

Why not order a Montage of a few of your favourite pics?
17th March 2011
A very popular choice with my customers is a 'custom designed' Photo Montage. Each one is individually created with a choice of your favourite pics. It's best not to choose too many - five works really well - and I will e-mail a low resolution sample to you for approval before producing the final print.
An A2 print (sized approx 22" x 16") cost £55. You can also choose to have the montage supplied on a Canvas. A 24" x 16" Canvas is £80 with the largest 30" x 20" at £120.
You can E-MAIL ME or phone me on 07781 144525 with the picture numbers or to arrange to view my complete database of your pictures.

06th March 2011
I photographed the latest GK&MC Motocross racing yesterday and a small Gallery of pics has been added.
Circumstances limited the amount of pics that I captured. Firstly there was quite an extended delay in racing whilst we waited for an Ambulance to return from a 'hospital run' and then I had to leave early on a Guernsey Press assignment to capture St Martins Football Club celebrations as they won the Priaulx Cup.

Guernsey Motor Cycle & Car Club 2-Day Bike Trials...
27th February 2011
Apart from a few heavy showers the weather was as good as you could expect for late February in Guernsey and this encouraged a good number of spectators onto the various sections to enjoy watching a sizable entry for the GMC&CC 2-Day Trials meeting.
Guernsey welcomed many competitors from Jersey, France and top UK rider Steve Saunders who was at home on some of the muddy sections.
I was able to photograph several sections during the two days and I have updated a Gallery with pictures.
I think I have photographed most of the riders although I did struggle to be in 'the right place at the right time' - particulaly for the top riders.
This is always a problem when there are so many sections as I like to move around to vary the 'look' of the pics. I seemed to just miss the Red section riders for a whole morning! All good fun though.
I hope you enjoy viewing the Galleries... please e-mail any comments.

To enable me to find your pictures from among the tens of thousands that I have, everyones picture/race number is noted in a database. This allows instant selection of an individual rider.
However the system fails when I can't see a number!!
If you want your picture kept in the database can you help me by noting your NAME & RACE NUMBER in the 'comment box' below each picture. Thanks a lot, Andrew
