Sports can be tough.....
06th April 2025

As a Guernseyman there was little to enjoy and less to say about the result in the 2025 Junior Muratti.

Guernsey U18's 0 | Jersey U18's 5..... ouch!

Sport can be tough and our local lads tried hard to match the Jersey reds but this time it wasn't to be. There'll be another chance to even the score!

I photographed the game and a Gallery is now online here:

Small in stature but massive in talent and potential.....
03rd April 2025

I photographed the 2025 Island Table Tennis Championship finals night at the Hougue du Pommier Centre on Wednesday. I only visit a couple of times a year but it is always fun.

The sport is so fast that it takes a few minutes to get the timing right!

On this visit I had my first opportunity to see (and photograph) one of our new young (very young) Table Tennis stars. Luke Evans really impressed me. He may be tiny compared to some of his opponents but he showed immense maturity and composure and more than enough talent at the table to leave his mark!

These results should tell the story....
Winner Under-13
Winner Under-15 Boys
Winner Under 18 Boys

GFC have found their way home.....
30th March 2025

Photos of the first game at the brand new home of Guernsey FC, Victoria Park, are now online.

On a sunny spring day Guernsey FC hosted the visitors from Westfield FC in the Isthmian South Central League in front of a crowd of over 2,200 supporters.

With a final score-line of 1-1 the GFC supporters left the ground with smiles on their faces as the new facilities had already proven the important part they will play in the future achievements of their local Club.

Congratulations and thank you to all the many Sponsors, Companies, GFC Officials, Supporters and of course the players for making it such a memorable day.

Saints pull off a notable win whilst one man down......
28th March 2025

St Martins hosted the Vale Rec in a Priaulx League clash at Blanche Pierre Lane on Friday.

The home side played well and managed a win even though they were down to ten men for a large part of the game!

I've added a Gallery of photos to the website. Click the link to view:

2-Day Trials event fills Island hotel beds in the off season.....
26th March 2025

The Guernsey cliffs on a sunny day are beautiful and a perfect backdrop for the GMC&CC 2-Day Trials event. I spent a couple of hours capturing some of the action on Saturday.

This event is another example (together with the Guernsey Rally) of how Motorsports generate income for the Island by bringing visitors over. Hotels certainly appreciate having off season trade.

I made a point of looking at the Trials bike number plates and there were many UK and Jersey riders taking part.

This year I had conflicting assignments so my 2-Day Trials coverage didn't cover the usual selection of venues. Hopefully next year I can fix that. My photos are now online here:

Lots of action from the Motocross dust bowl......
23rd March 2025

I visited the Motocross track on Saturday for some MX action shots... and it was more interesting than I imagined.

It was clear, even as I turned into Rue de la Trigale, that the track must be dry and dusty as billowing, powdery clouds gently drifted across the cliff-tops!

Whilst everyone ends the day dirty and needing a shower those conditions are actually great for photography - if you can manage to keep your kit fairly clean.

The atmosphere that is added to a photograph is worth the grime!

I was also fortunate that I had a busy day of assignments so I had the perfect excuse to leave the dust pit early. Lucky me!

My photos of the racing are now online if you are interested:

The young guns were on fire....
22nd March 2025

The Elizabeth College team of youngsters certainly gave the more experienced CF Independants a run around on Friday night at KGV.

This was at the Quarter Finals of the Offshore Commercial Guernsey FA Cup. The young legs and the clear objective to make it through to the next round was there to be seen for the large and vocal group of EC supporters. There really was a fantastic atmosphere.

And if you were in any doubt about which side turned up on the night I think the score-line of 5-1 makes the statement.

Now, can the youthful team go one better and make the final? It's a long shot! But this is Cup football and we all know that the unexpected can happen.

Keep watching this space.....

Gravity makes for good racing and great pics........
18th March 2025

The Guernsey Velo Club headed off to the Talbot Valley on Sunday morning for ROUND 1 of the 2025 Adventure Cycles Gravity Series.

I love photographing the Downhill racing at this venue as there are some great viewpoints and the action is nearly non-stop.

So I ended with a load of pics and they are now online if you are interested. Just click the link below to view the Gallery:

There was no fairy-tale ending for GFC......
17th March 2025

Well I think most of the supporters of GFC turned up for their last game at Footes Lane with the perfect 'script' in their heads. It probably went a bit like this....

"GFC dominated play showcasing their best football and won with a notable 4-0 score line setting the scene for their immanent arrival at the new Victoria Park!"

Sadly there was no fairy-tale ending at Footes Lane and the 0-4 score means we now head off to Victoria Park hoping that GFC find new motivation at their splendid new ground.

Fingers crossed as we all love a story with a happy ending....

New faces and new music = a great night out at the Tavern.....
11th March 2025

I've been back to the Fermain Tavern for what turned out to be a fantastic gig.

It's always great to see and enjoy a new band and on this night two Bands on the line-up were new to me.

The opening act was Birte Paulsen and this was great start. Birte is a newcomer to the Island but clearly not a newcomer to performing as her set was confident and polished and showcased her talent as a songwriter.

I have a feeling we will be seeing Birte again very soon.

Next up on the bill was a new line-up called Rosemary. Familiar faces made an appearance but in this form they performed a short set which suggested really good things to come. Keep an eye open for their next gig.

And the headliners finished the night with a high energy performance worthy of the billing. Pillars have quickly earnt a place on my list of the top Bands currently on the Guernsey scene.

So another great night at the Tavern. Bring on the next one!

A change of scenery is invigorating.......
10th March 2025

As I'm ticking off two decades of working as a photographer in Guernsey it is inevitable that I need to return to the same assignments and events.

During this time I've been given the opportunity to photograph just about every Sport.

But, even taking into account the huge variety of Sports I've photographed, I now find that I get a 'been there, done that' feeling sometimes.

However, there are still highlights that come along and an example was on Sunday morning when I photographed the GVC MTB XC Series at Beaucette Marina.

The enjoyment came, not from the racing, but the backgrounds! The boatyard and some of the old marine items gave me something to 'work' with and I felt a bit spoilt!

The photos are now online if you want to see what I'm talking about:

RING, RING...... time to get out of bed......
09th March 2025

So the early alarms are back!!

I've said before that I'm a late night person but when the call comes to photograph a Duathlon event there is no option to climbing out of bed with the sunrise.... why do these guys love their early starts?

Of course once I'm out with the cameras it's usually worth the effort and today's Amarreurs Duathlon was a great start to the Guernsey Triathlon Club's 2025 season.

The fruits of my labour are now online if you are interested:

The first half goals were all that Saints needed.......
08th March 2025

I only had time to photograph the first half of the Priaulx League clash between North and Saints last night but as it happened I still saw three of the four goals.

On the night it was St Martins AC who put on the best show with their 3-1 win.

The biggest edit ever is complete......
06th March 2025

I've decided that it isn't just the Rally crews that get a buzz from the racing after I counted the photos that I took over the weekend! Two thousand is certainly a record for me!!

I'll give myself some allowance as on three of the stages I set up a remote camera which meant that for every shutter click I actually took TWO photos. In fact I actually appear in my own photos..... clever, eh!

After a frantic edit of the shots I ended with about 1,000 (another record) to add to my website and they are all online now. I hope they will fill in some of the action you may have missed.

Well done to all involved in making the LBG Guernsey Rally happen. See you again next year.

Who needs sleep when you have an edit to complete?
05th March 2025

I know I've already made complements about how fantastic the 2025 LBG Guernsey Rally was.... but maybe just one more time!

The event ran so smoothly and attracted huge crowds who enjoyed the noise, the speed, the cars and the close competition. The Island proved to be a great backdrop for the Sport and many visitors will go home and spread the word.

I've enjoyed a second 'bite' of the event as I've just completed the edit of my photos and the final two Galleries are now online if you are interested:

With over 2,000 photos it's going to be a mega edit.....
04th March 2025

With the tyre smoke and dust just settling after a very successful 2025 LBG Guernsey Rally I hope the organisers allow themselves a moment to enjoy the huge amount of compliments voiced by so many Islanders, Competitors and visitors in praise of the job they did.

I enjoyed photographing as much action as possible and ended up taking over 2,000 photos! So the edit will be a long one but the first batch of photos are now online if you are interested.

You can't top the racing at the reservoir....
23rd February 2025

The GVC XC racers were spoilt this morning when they returned to the Thorntons circuit. The opportunity to race on the private land near the reservoir was taken up by a good sized entry.

The track offered a bit of everything really. Twisty... you've got it, gradients... ticked, long straight runs... sorted!

I enjoyed having a different backdrop for my photos and my pics of Race 2 of the Ian Brown's Series are now online if you are interested:

Raiders battle to the end.......
23rd February 2025

The Guernsey Raiders battled to the final whistle at Footes Lane yesterday but missed the win against Colchester with the end result at a very close 36-38.

Sadly it wasn't to be this time but the Guernsey Raiders are proving that they are in the running and highly competitive.

Two for the price of one.....
21st February 2025

Everyone loves a good deal and it was two for the price of one on Wednesday night.

I started the evening at Footes Lane where GFC produced a much better performance against Horndean.

At halftime I headed off to Beau Sejour where Savills faced Skipton in the Guernsey Basketball League.

Not a performance to remember....
17th February 2025

It was a tough afternoon at Footes Lane for GFC players and supporters alike.

As GFC enter into a period of packed fixtures they were probably hoping to start with a strong performance and a memorable win.

But sometimes a plan just doesn't come together and our Green Lions never got up to speed when they hosted Rayners Lane at Footes Lane.

Now, going forward, GFC needs to re-group and focus ahead of the next important games. We will offer all the support we can.

Go Guernsey FC!!
