The Guernsey Festival site begins to take shape
30th June 2011

A massive amount of organising is begining to take shape down Victoria Avenue on the Guernsey Festival of Performing Arts site.
The venue is perfect for the many attractions and Bands that are lined up to appear.
When I was on site earlier another line of heavy articulated lorries loaded with gear was squeezing though the gates.
This Elevated panoramic view shows the area which will be filled with two more 'main tents' together with bars and festival traders.
Don't leave buying the tickets until the day - there are bound to be queues.
Tickets can be purchased from Yakwax Surfshop, Red Ape Clothing, HMV &

Round 5 of the GK&MC Summer Kart Championship
26th June 2011

What a scorcher! And what a contrast to Round 4 when the heavens opened, big time.
So, Round 5 lived up to its billing as part of the Kart Summer Championship.
I have uploaded a new Gallery of pitures of the meeting.
ROUND 5 OF THE SUMMER KART CHAMPIONSHIP
Got those tickets yet?
25th June 2011

I'm going to nag you every day until the big day when The Guernsey Festival of Performing Arts kicks off.
I have been on-site and the venue at The Rabbit Warren is perfect - large and with natural, gentle slopes.
The line-up is 'top draw' also. Remember, these Bands are coming to you - all for a bargain price - and will perform on full size, premium stages!
Ocean Colour Scene, Primal Scream, Frank Turner, The Gaslight Anthem, Seb Fontaine, Tom Novy... the list really does go on and on.
Whatever your age and musical tastes you cannot fail to have a great time.
BUY THOSE TICKETS NOW or be disappointed when you go into work after it is all over and you find out what you missed!
The time for talking and thinking is over... buy those tickets...
24th June 2011

If you have been watching the TV coverage of Glastonbury you should be 'feeling the Summer vibe'. Well, OK it has rained, a lot, but that is a UK summer!
But this is no problem for the first Guernsey Festival of Performing Arts next weekend. The Main Stage will be arriving 'hot from Glastonbury' and will guarantee your comfort - whatever the weather!
It will be in a massive 'Big Top'... nice.
For the 'first try' at running a Festival the Guernsey Festival is certainly packing a punch. I am watching Primal Scream on stage at Glastonbury as I write this... they will headline the Sunday night.
Many other Bands will appear direct from the Summer circuit of Festivals. This Festival is not short of Big names.
So, as my headline says... the time for talking and thinking about buying your weekend ticket is over. You really MUST be at this Festival. It really doesn't matter what your musical taste is, the atmosphere will be great and the value for a weekends top entertainment cannot be beaten... see you there... no excuses.
Hold your Fire... it's a Jersey Band
22nd June 2011
]
Recent visitors to this Island were Jersey based band 'Hold your Fire'. They played at the 'Mecca of live music' in the Channel Islands, The Fermain Tavern.
The Band have appeared in Guernsey several times over the years including the Greenman Chaos Festival and always draw a crowd of local supporters.
I have added a new Gallery of pictures here:

The Cryptics visit The Fermain Tavern...
20th June 2011
]
It was good to see another Jersey Band take to the stage at the Fermain Tavern last weekend. In fact three Bands played during the evening. Once again this was great gig.
Unfortunately, I missed one of my favourite Bands, Last of the Light Brigade. However I did see The Cryptics and Thee Jenerators. Top stuff!
A Gallery featuring The Cryptics has now been added.

Rock of Ages-10 pictures... at last
19th June 2011

I don't know where the days go! Rock of Ages-10 was 'ages ago' and I have just got around to preparing and uploading the Galleries. I blame Mark Guillou for putting on so many Bands in one evening. It takes an age to sort and process so many pics!
Any-how, they are now on-line.
Rock of Ages-10 featured the following six Bands, Last of the Light Brigade, Breaking the Silence, Dealer's Left, Distant Shores, MX2 and Inertia.
Take a look at the Galleries here:

The Festival season is about to kick off...
16th June 2011

First up will be the Greenman Chaos Festival.
This is always a great mix of Burnouts, Bikes & Bands. This is also a Festival 'on the up' as we are promised an even bigger Event than last years!
Put the date in your diary (July 15th - 17th). Three days of entertainment and great value. Not to be missed - see you there.
If you need something to get you in the mood, I have updated the Galleries with some more pictures from 2010.
GREENMAN CHAOS 2010
Oh, it was wet...
14th June 2011

That just about sums up the weekends Kart racing at The Track. The conditions were not pleasant - for anyone.
The competitors were fully wrapped in plastic, the race officials found one of the only dry spots to watch the racing and this photographer only made opportune and brief excursions to the side of the track to take pics!
For me it is worth the extra effort of trying to keep lenses and kit dry. It is a challenge to even see if I have captured the action in focus when the viewing screen is awash! The 'pay-off' for me is that I am able to record an image which is different from the norm.
A Gallery of pictures has now been uploaded. I hope you enjoy them... I suffered for these, ha,ha.

The Imperials Scooter Club night out at the Fermain Tavern
13th June 2011

I've been playing 'catch-up' today! It was pointed out to me that I had completely missed updating the Galleries with pics of the Imperials Scooter Club night out at the Fermain Tavern, oooops!
This gig had been arranged to entertain all those Scooter owners (local and visitors) that had taken part in the Clubs Rally.
It was a lively night of partying to Thee Jenerators and The Devotees.
I have corrected the oversight! View pics here...

What a difference a day makes!
12th June 2011

Having just returned from photographing a VERY wet Kart meeting at The Track I have just uploaded the latest pictures of the Sprint meeting held at Vazon yesterday.
I chatted with various competitors during the Sprint meeting and a few of the Bike riders were disappointed with the cross wind at the end of their runs... it could have been so much worse. Look at today!
If there is a 'pecking order' of who moans about the weather (and light)... then, after the Farmers it is a close call between Photographers and Racers (Yes I'm as guilty as everyone)!
In the end we all have to make the best of what we are given and sometimes the conditions help a photographer capture something different. Keep a check on the News page for the latest 'Wet Kart Meeting' pics... I suffered to get these!

A Photo-Montage is a great way to remember a special event...
10th June 2011

I have added a couple more Photo-Montages to the Galleries featuring recent gigs that I have photographed. These Montages are a great way to remember a special event or gig that you have been involved with. Each Montage is individually designed and will include your chosen pictures.
If you would like to consider having a Montage designed for you just drop me an e-mail CONTACT ANDREW LE POIDEVIN or call me on 07781 144525.
Montages are printed on large A2 size paper and look fantastic when framed. Take a look at the Gallery to see some previous designs...

U.K Subs at The Fermain Tavern... another legendary gig?
07th June 2011

The U.K. Subs played a fantastic gig at The Fermain Tavern, Guernsey on 3rd June 2011.
This gig must feature in my Top 10 ever and I highly recommend that you get to see this band if they appear in a town near you.
If you ever need to convince yourself that music is 'best taken live' this band will prove it to you!
The re-designed Fermain Tavern has really done justice to it's heritage as a live music venue and I would encourage you to support Chris, the landlord, in the coming months. Great Bands like the U.K. Subs don't come cheap and you guys (and gals) need to support 'The Tav' if it is to continue with these top promotions.
See you next time?
A new Gallery of pictures has been added.

Mitch Godden was the class act... again!
05th June 2011

Mitch Godden might not race on the sand very often... indeed I think the annual visit to Guernsey for the 'Condor Ferries Sand Ace' meeting is the only time he sees the beach each year.
It certainly doesn't show! From the first lap on the sand Mitch looks at home and unbeatable... again.
So it was a case of who would take the runner-up positions. Well done to local racer, Anthony Queripel for placing second in the A Final followed by Dan Winterton (he nearly qualifies as a Guernseyman now!).
The days entertainment was completed when Dan and Gareth Winterburn went for a 'skinny-dip' at the end of the racing. Remember, it was low tide. That makes for a long walk back after cooling off!
If you want to take a look at the racing action - and the skinny-dip (you have been warned) click on this link.

VEF 'Beach Life' 2011 was a sell-out...
02nd June 2011

The Vale Earth Fair Collective returned with 'Beach Life 2011' held in Petit Bot valley last weekend. This venue is perfect for an event like this as it provides an 'intimate' atmosphere which must be unique to Guernsey.
As always these events begin very low key and chilled and gradually build as the sun goes down. Rumour has it that full capacity was reached and many party-goers had to queue to gain access.
Beach Life is a warm-up and fund raiser for the Vale Earth Fair Collectives main event of the year which is of course the Earth Fair itself. This is happening in Vale Castle at the end of August... see you there.
I have added a new gallery of pics...

Sugar Slam gig at Pieces Bar... pics now on-line
31st May 2011

So much has been happening over the weekend that it seems ages since I photographed a great gig by Sugar Slam at Pieces Bar. But, having re-checked the calendar, it really was only last Friday!
Sugar Slam are one of my favourites and they stormed through a tight set - including a couple of new songs.
I have now added pictures of the gig to the Gallery.

Guernsey Kart & Motor Club Hill Climb pics...
31st May 2011

On a day that conditions were certainly less than perfect for part of the event there were some very impresive times posted. Ten new records in total!
My driver of the day was Tim Torode who managed to join the elite sub-30 second club in a car that really shouldn't be able to match the 'big guns'. I witnessed the run from the top of the hill and captured a shot of just how close and hard you have to push to achieve this sort of result.

I have now added a large Gallery of pics featuring the days racing. As always, if you like what you see, you can purchase pics by clicking the BUY NOW button below each picture.

Guernsey Powerboat Association Round-3
28th May 2011

It was pretty choppy out there in the Little Russell this afternoon for Round-3 of the Guernsey Powerboat Association's 2011 Championship.
These conditions are a real challenge for competitor and photographer alike!
When taking pics when the sea is so bumpy you know that the boats will be flying - literally - between troughs. The challenge is to capture the moment and get it in sharp focus whilst using a 600mm lens from a wildly rocking platform.
I love a challenge!
A big thank you to Addie Marsh for allowing me to use his boat for the pics.

There was Frenzy at the Tavern
25th May 2011

I have looked up the meaning of the word - and 'Frenzy' can mean craze, delirium, hysteria and manic disorder.
Now I won't claim that these descriptions could be used for the state of behaviour at The Fermain Tavern when Frenzy played last week but the Band did their best to excite such riotous fun!
Unfortunately there was a general lack of people which is a great shame and their loss as this was a great night out.
Supporting Frenzy were Peppered Ant Legs (one of my favourite bands - says something about my age I think) and The Crowman.
I have added picture Galleries for the bands.
