Pride of Guernsey heroes receive their awards....
20th October 2025
Last Saturday I was at St Pierre Park Hotel with the Guernsey Press team to cover their 2025 Pride of Guernsey Awards.
Once again the evening celebrated the most amazing people and the acts of kindness and achievements they performed during the last twelve months.
The photographers team consisted of just two of us so it really was non-stop action as we made sure we captured all the emotions and smiles.
I've now uploaded a new Gallery featuring my photos of the awards night.

GFC.... the guys where on fire!
19th October 2025
When I'm asked to cover a 'cup' game but I only have a limited time before I have to move on there is always a worry that I might miss all the action... the important moments.
What if nothing happens until after I leave?
What about extra time or even penalties?
So when I headed down to Victoria Park for the Isuzu FA Vase game between Guernsey FC and Staplehurst Monarchs and knowing that I had to head off early to photograph the Guernsey Pride Awards the question was 'will I get enough action photos in my limited time'?
Ha, what was I worried about! GFC where on fire from the whistle and treated us to ninety+ minutes of action in just the first twenty minutes of play!
The guys were unstoppable... although it did take around 35 minutes to find the back of the net!
GFC's players, at the moment, seem fired up with confidence. The balance of skills and telepathic understanding between players is fantastic to watch!
So whilst I was really disappointed to have to leave such an entertaining game early, I certainly didn't lack a few action photos!

GFC Women maintain their unbeaten record.....
14th October 2025
The GFC Women maintained their unbeaten record so far this season when they played the visiting team, AFC Stoneham, at Victoria Park.
The 1-1 draw was a fair representation of the closely fought game where both teams performed well. Whilst this game didn't produce the goal fest that had come before it was encouraging that the GFC Women where able to adapt to a tighter game.
Well done to the ladies. Lets hope the good form lasts. You have certainly captured the interest among local supporters who look forward to the next game at Victoria Park.

GFC let the result slide away....
11th October 2025
GFC had a bit of a hiccup in their form when they met Pagham at Victoria Park in a Southern Combination Premier Division game.
After a great start and several missed chances it took forty minutes for GFC to make their mark.
But with the change of direction at half time the strong wind favoured Pagham and GFC paid the price of the earlier misses eventually dropping behind 2-4 by the whistle.

More downhill action from Pomare.....
10th October 2025

Once again it was a really competitive mornings racing as riders tried to perfect their lines and chip a second or two from their first timed run.

Petit Bot hillclimb.... but for how much longer?
08th October 2025
The traditional seasons-end hillclimb is the Guernsey Kart & Motor Club Petit Bot event. Sadly there is talk that if may disappear from the calendar.
The size of entry has been dropping and the costs of running the challenging event keep rising. Maybe a bi-annual visit will be the way to go? It would be a real shame if it disappeared completely.
I spent the morning photographing the action before I had to move on for another assignment. The gallery is now online here:

North win the replay of the abandoned Jeremie Cup first round.....
03rd October 2025
After the heated and dramatic abandonment of the original attempt to play the first-round of the Jeremie Cup between Sylvans and North there was understandably a concern that the replay might end in a game spoilt by the past.
But in fact I thought the game was a tribute to how the players behaved. Undoubtedly each team were highly motivated to get the win but this passion was in the main kept under control and the result was a fast, skilful game between two teams of fairly equal abilities.
North went home with the glory after winning 2-1 but it really could have gone either way.

GFC Women prove that it's not over till it's over.....
30th September 2025
I seem to live down Victoria Park at the moment. But there's certainly no time to doze as the non-stop action on the pitch keeps everyone entertained!
Sunday I was pitch side for the Women's GFC game against Andover New Street. The first ten minutes didn't look good for the local girls as they quickly fell two goals behind.
GFC pulled their play together as the game progressed and as the ninety minutes passed it was back to level pegging on 3-3.
But as the saying goes, it's never over until it's over and frustratingly in the sixth minute of extra time Andover snatched a goal... and the lead.
However they hadn't banked on the grit and competitiveness of the GFC ladies who used the last moments of the ten minutes of extra time to nab an equaliser and a deserved 4-4 draw!
Well done to our GFC Women on an amazing performance. My photos of the game are now online. Click the link to view them:

A 7-1 win.... (almost) the perfect result for GFC
29th September 2025
After the disappointment last season and the relegation that followed, the drop has brought with it both optimism and pressure.
Supporters are hoping that at the new level GFC can create a successful string of wins. But with those expectations comes the pressure.
On Saturday at Victoria Park Guernsey FC hosted Newhaven FC, a team above GFC in the league and a team (I believe) that had only conceded seven goals so far this season!
So a challenging game for GFC.... but one that produced a glorious result. How does a 7-1 win sound to you?
This was an incredible game with a result that could only have been improved by a 7-0 score!
Am I now being greedy?
Well done to GFC..... we now look for more of the same, no pressure, eh!

Our youngsters bring down the Fleet Air Arm......
28th September 2025
Saturday was a great time to be down at Victoria Park if you are a Guernseyman.
A full days program of Guernsey Football Association games had been organised and on paper several looked tough for our local teams.
But ultimately it turned out that there was little to worry about! The two headlining games were GFC v Newhaven FC (more about that amazing result to come) and the Malaya Cup where the Guernsey U21's played a Fleet Air Arm squad.
In this game our local lads produced a terrific result with their 4-2 win! This was a good confidence booster ahead of the Inter-insular later in the season.

Back to the netball and it's a steep learning curve......
24th September 2025
I think it's about six months since I've photographed a Guernsey Netball Association fixture.
It seems that this was plenty time for me to forget all the timing and technique needed to photograph this fast moving and unpredictable game!
So it took me quite some time to get dialled back in again but it was certainly an enjoyable challenge. So I'll be back.
This match was between Resolution IT Black and Specsavers Lightning Flash and I've added a new gallery to the website.

What a warrior Charlton Gauvain is.....
21st September 2025
Guernsey FC produced a solid performance at Victoria Park Stadium when they played the visitors from Croydon FC.
A 2-0 win was enough to take GFC comfortably into the first round proper of the Isuzu FA Vase.
We can now look forward to the draw. Fingers crossed that GFC can build on their good form against their next opponents.
I think all us supporters are beginning to enjoy being winners!
Oh, and if you want to see the effect of taking a hard hit in the face from a football? Take a look what it did to Charlton Gauvain! What a warrior!

The best gig ever?
19th September 2025
Tantale's recent gigs have seen them as headliners, a role that they rise to with style. They have more than a decade of experience and deserve the recognition that they've earned.
But last weekend Tantale took a supporting role at the return gig of The Recks at St James Guernsey.
The combination of these two great local bands created an night to remember... and I'm not the only one who thinks so. The comments on social media have all been fervent, thrilled and excited.

The Recks.... maybe the record breaker?
17th September 2025
The Recks are perhaps the most photographed band in my galleries. I think the number of photos now exceeds 1,200!!
The Recks have played at festivals and gigs across the Channel Islands and UK and have earned a loyal following. The Covid years seriously interrupted their momentum and plans and the band disappeared from the scene.
However in 2025 they were back with a legendary gig at St James.
Hopefully this signals that more is to come......

Let's go GFC!
13th September 2025
Maybe we shouldn't get too excited yet. After all we are just at the start of a long season.
But surely we can allow ourselves to enjoy the moment?
Being a supporter of GFC hasn't felt so good for a couple of seasons. The team had been giving their all but they were in a league that just needed a little more.
So the move down one level wasn't what GFC had wanted but I feel it has now re-invigorated everything around Victoria Park. The performances on the pitch are back and the results are coming in.
I think we are lined up for a great season.

It was worth the wait for the 2025 VEF galleries.....
10th September 2025
With the my hard drives bursting at the seams with a backlog of edits I'm almost of a mind that I should just take a rest from covering events (to catch up)!
But of course it is the taking of the photos that is the best and most enjoyable part of my work! So, no, I've got to find another solution, somehow.
A great example of the fun that can be had whilst 'working' has to be the annual Vale Earth Fair. The 2025 edition was incredible and so was the amount of photos I captured... around 700! But I was there for twelve hours!!
Of course this made for a massive and slow edit which had to be fitted around the other jobs. But it's all sorted and the completed Vale Earth Fair galleries can now be viewed. If you're interested just click the link:

I head down south and deep into St Peters....
06th September 2025
I headed down south for this FNB Priaulx League football game.
On a bright and sunny day Guernsey looked at its best and in rural St Peters the Sylvans pitch took on an almost 'village green' feel with a decent number of supporters relaxing in the sunshine.
These are moments to enjoy as we all know the wet and windy winter games are not too far away!
