I've been working through the edit of 15 bouts of the Boxfit Gym 'King of the North' fight night at the KGV.

With a perfect blue sky and a great line-up of boxers taking to the ring in front of hundreds of punters, there was an electric atmosphere from bout 1 to the final bell ending bout 15!

I captured all 15 bouts which has made a mega edit... but I'm getting there! Already online are galleries featuring 11 of the bouts and the rest are on the way.

My photos of the Guernsey Triathlon Club's 2026 Granite Weekender are now online.

The 2026 Guernsey Triathlon Club's Granite Sprint Triathlon and the Granite 100 Triathlon were based at the Peninsular Hotel which offered easy access to the sea for the swimming leg.

The grounds of the hotel were also perfect for the transitions into the cycle and finally the run.

Sadly this year the descent and climb of the Ronez quarry had to be moved to the trails around the perimeter but competitors still completed a really challenging course.

Covering the event as a photographer has its own challenge as the courses are spread along the west coast of Guernsey. Much of the time is spent hanging around waiting for the action. But it's always fun as competitors manage to smile through their discomfort... how odd these guys are!

Photos of the popular Sark Harbour Hill Lawnmower Hillclimb are now online. The event is organised by the Channel Islands Lawn Mower Racing Association. Otherwise know as the crazy Mob!!

The racing attracts many of the Sark residents to cycle across the island to join the boat loads of spectators who arrive from Guernsey.

This is motorsport in Sark style... it even has a pub on the finish line!

Definitely a recommended event to view on a summer's evening.

As I add the final galleries of photos capturing some of the scene around the venues that supported the 2026 Vale Earth Fair's 50th I'm even more in awe that the event was saved from disaster.

The VEF Collective had to make a late decision to move the festival into St Peter Port after high winds stopped the setup in Vale Castle!

The fact that, with only hours to make it happen, the Vale Earth Fair 'Goes to Town' took place spread across five venues in St Peter Port is incredible and amazing!

This festival day was also an odd one for me. I've made no secret in the past that I was a regular visitor to Errol's Real Ale Bar. This was an enjoyable distraction from taking pics!

However, for the first and hopefully only time, I had a 'dry' festival as I'd decided that the only way I could do justice to as many bands and venues as possible was to drive around to them.... remember I am an ancient pensioner, ha, ha!

So the ale free day was the ultimate sacrifice for me to make! I hope you agree and think the pics made it worth it!

It's taken me a while to work it out, but if I get straight on with a job it's more likely to be completed quickly!

After 50 years of marriage I should know by now that all I have to do is ask the wife... she who is so wise... and she will 'advise' where I'm going wrong (with everything)!

So, after missing the updates for the previous hillclimb I was 'advised' to get on with Monday's edit immediately.... DON'T leave it!

And of course she was right (as always) and Monday's hillclimb has already been edited and uploaded!!

The only problem now is that I have a few hours available and the wifey is heading my way with her list of To-Do's.

Quick, I'd better get started on the Vale Earth Fair edit..... 'sorry love, I'm busy'.

First things first... congratulations to Matt Bougourd on achieving another FTD at yesterday's GK&MC 'Terres hillclimb. His times were amazingly consistent!

But I must also mention that he asked me about my photos of the previous hillclimb. Where are they?

A good question as it appears I DID complete the edit.... but then forgot to upload them! It's the age I'm afraid!

But I've corrected this now and I've uploaded them to a new gallery.
Now I've got to start on yesterday pics.... if I can remember!!

It's a fact that if a photographer is hoping to capture vibrant and bright sports photos a good start is to shoot in crisp, clear summer light.

Of course nothing is ever perfect and that very same light challenges the 'tog by its contrast and dark shadows!

This summer has produced endless opportunities for me to capture colourful sport pics and I'm beginning to feel a little spoilt as I know the grey, dark days are just around the corner!

So I'll enjoy it whilst it lasts and Sunday's Guernsey Athletics Aztec Track & Field Series at Footes Lane certainly ticked the box for me.

The effort needed to make the early start for one of the Guernsey Triathlon Club's events is made much more acceptable when we are greeted by the warm hues of a summer sunrise!

Sunday's event featured Olympic, Sprint and Super Sprint races. The athletes taking part all seemed to be really up for the pain and exertion ahead of them. Odd people!

But I'm not going to lie, I'm MUCH more comfortable tracking the competitors from behind my camera than actually taking part!

There's VERY LITTLE chance (actually none) that I'm going to slip on any lycra.... you may be relieved to hear!

I justify my idleness by convincing myself that somebody has to take the photos. I'm pretty sure this thought has also entered Andy Dovey's head too!

How about spending a few hours on the sands of Vazon Bay on a sunny day?

That was the question.... and I don't need to tell you my answer!

The Guernsey Motor Cycle & Car Club were holding their 2-Day Sandracing meeting and I managed to get down there for the first day.

The entry size was only average, but a Friday is still a work day for many. However the racing was really good with a busy Mazda MX 5 Challenge Class producing some great racing!

Possibly my slowest edit ever?!!

Somehow I've kept updating a few photos.... but then each time I've been distracted by something else, and again, and again!

This process probably wasn't helped by the edit being a tricky one due to the VERY low light and the high contrast colours. Sometimes my motivation is beaten down by a 'hard slog'!

But there is a sense of relief when I can call the job done. Which is now the case!

Oh, I forgot to introduce what all this is actually about. I'm referring to the (not so) recent Metal 2 the Masses finals evening at St James Guernsey where bands went head to head to win the opportunity to play at the 2026 Bloodstock Festival.

Apothis were the winners.... and they've already completed the job!!

Other bands included Skyscrapers, Aggravating Family and All Eyes on You with support from Perchard's Wall.

Did you know that some photographers have a Super Power?

Yes, we have the ability to be in two places at the same time... well almost!

I exercised my Super Power on Sunday afternoon when two of my assignments were scheduled around the same time... but I was up to the job, and I have photos to prove it!

Luckily for me both photoshoots were within a hundred metres of each other so I didn't even need to run!

One event was the Charity Car Pull in aid of the St John Ambulance and Rescue Service Flying Christine III. The car in question was a highly modified vehicle which now floats! It is the intention to 'sail' it to Herm then onward to Sark. Good luck lads!

The second event also involved water as it was the annual BWCI Open Castle Swim which attracted a massive entry!

Photos of the first Round of the 2026 Rawlinson Cup at The Track between North AC v St Martins AC are now online.

This assignment was a little different to the norm as I was tasked with capturing a 'mug shot' of all the players in action.

At the start of a season Sports Editors like a few 'bankers' for use when a player is featured in reports.

I always find that as a photographer this is one of my hardest jobs! I end up taking more photos than my 'normal' coverage of a game (400 in this case) just to be sure I have a useable pic of (most) players - without any opposition players in the background!

This is too much stress for a man of my age but I'm now calming down after a bit of anger management therapy! This was the result from my capturing too many backs of heads, ugly grimaces, tongues out, head down, head up, eyes closed, opposition in the background..... I could go on!!!!

But I'm now calming down after a drop of anger management therapy (read beer)!

There was a friendly... but competitive atmosphere at the Northerners AC Club House on Saturday evening when I popped in to take a few photos of the 2026 Guernsey Grand Slam of Darts.

When you take into account that the favourite and eventual winner was a Jerseyman this was a little odd!

But don't forget that the sport of Darts is usually played in a pub or bar and those places are built around socialising with friends.

So it was fun to enjoy the banter and the beer whilst all the battles took place at the Oche!

The Guernsey School of Popular Music's Summer School finishes with a highlight gig to showcase the students busy week.

The week started with the formation of bands.... and of course the important choice of a (mostly weird) band name!

The following days were busy as students rehearsed a short set of live music. This was all building up to a crazy night at The Mermaid Tavern in Herm.

I use the word 'crazy' as I think that best describes how mad someone was when they thought of the idea of putting on a night with TEN student bands on stage... and not forgetting the Tutors Band that closes the entertainment.

Also you have to remember that all this happens in Herm.... there's no room for delays as the boat will sail home without you!

The 2026 edition of the SoPM Guernsey Summer School Gig was as good and as popular as ever and I really enjoyed capturing some of the special moments.

Photos of the opening game of the 2026 Southern Combination Premier Division for Guernsey FC at Victoria Park are now online.

Guernsey FC made the perfect start to their season by beating visitors Pagham FC 3-0.

Before the kick-off the talk around Victoria Park was that it seemed only days since the end of last season and questions about how the Manager, Tony Vance, and the players would generate the motivation and fitness for what will be another long season.

They certainly ticked the first box. Let's support our team and help energise them through the inevitable ups and downs!

The GVC Downhill Racing MTB riders were out and about at Petit Bot on Sunday morning.

After the extended dry spell the wooded area was bone dry and the downhill track was dusty offering very little grip.

But of course non of that slowed the downhillers in their hunt for the fastest times!

John Mapley was well clear of the field with a best time of 35:60 but the next five riders, whilst two seconds slower than John, were all bunched with less that a second between them. Great racing guys!

I spent the morning trying to balance on the slippery slopes whilst taking some 'panning' shots in very contrasty light.

Two late arrivals from the editing desk are now online.

Looking back two weeks (it feels like longer!) the Guernsey Velo Club's Adventure Cycles Tour of Guernsey was in full swing.

Also, the Jersey and Guernsey Rounds of the British Hillclimb Championships featured in my diary. It was a busy week which was followed by a week that was filled by the All Terrain Challenge!

So back to the late arrivals mentioned above. I've only just got around to adding the final Tour of Guernsey photos.... Round 4 (Ronez Quarry) and Round 5 (Ronez Monmains) to my website.

With barely time to sleep, the last four weeks has seen daily events across the Islands and what seems like non-stop editing!

I still have lots to catch up with... but I have ticked the All Terrain Challenge box with photos of Day 7 in Herm now online.

This event really offers the 'challenge' in the title.

Herm has more hills than you'd think.... and running along Shell Beach is brutal (I've been told)!!!

Everyday of the week long ATC has been different but it really hits a high with the 5km and 10km runs set over a surprisingly tough course in the picturesque Herm Island.

So it's no surprise that, after the week of exertion, the runners relax and party in The Mermaid after completing the event. Nobody was bothered about diet and calories for the one night of revelry! Party On!

I made what has become a quite rare visit to The Track to photograph a round of the Guernsey Kart & Motor Club Kart Championship recently.

I've not been able to fit a visit in for a while as the Sunday mornings are often filled with Guernsey Press work.

So it was good to be back and even better was that there was a good sized entry of karts... there had been a drop off recently.

Hopefully I'll be back soon and the numbers will rise too!

The headline says it all.

Clearly my plan to take things a little easier after reaching retirement age six years ago hasn't worked! Perhaps I never intended to stop doing what I love and as I'm still able to fill my days finding interesting things to photograph why stop?

And let's be honest, apart from the struggle to lift the bigger lenses, being a photographer is not the most demanding of jobs.... or is it?

There can certainly be pressure to complete assignments, achieve deadlines and it is so easy to fall behind on the edits when every day new work increases the back log.

The last couple of weeks have been packed solid with interesting work and I'm spending lots of time on the editing, slowly ticking the boxes.

Saturday saw the British National Hillclimb 'road show' arrive at Le Val des Terres and I was able to cover the whole event... and this edit is well underway with the first photo galleries now online.

First up are the Race Cars and photos of the scene around the racing.
