Shooting Softball for a change.....
21st April 2026

The Guernsey Softball Association's A Team scored an impressive win over the Jersey Softball Association's visiting side at Beau Sejour in the Softball Muratti on Saturday.

The bright and sunny day encouraged a really good crowd of supporters for all the matches and the result was inter-island sport at its best.
Sure it was competitive, but that was mixed with friendship and a shared love of Softball.

I've added the first Gallery of photos featuring the main Muratti game. It will be followed by the B side Muratti and the Upton A. Keep a check on the website if you are interested:

Was this the busiest weekend ever?
19th April 2026

What an amazing weekend of Sport in Guernsey. But I was burned out by the end.... and I only covered a small part of what was going on.

Starting Friday evening with a Stranger Cup Semi-final at Victoria Park then moving straight on to St Pierre Park Hotel for a very late night photographing 12 Bouts of Dinner Boxing!

Then Saturday..... how about three games of Guernsey Softball Association at Beau Sejour, two Muratti's and an Upton!

In between those games I popped inside for two Inter-insular Guernsey Volleyball games!

And just to top off the weekend, and to make sure I won't emerge from the office whilst I complete the edits, on Sunday I was back at Beausie for another two games of Volleyball.

Submissions had to be turned around quickly for the Guernsey Press and the JEP.... and now the edits have started to be uploaded to my website. Phew...

Here's a link to a couple of Guernsey Volleyball galleries. More to follow:

When the Sahara Desert came to Guernsey.....
12th April 2026

Like everyone who spent time at the GK&MC 2-Day Motocross meeting I left the event covered in dust. In fact I looked like I'd been in a Saharan desert sand storm!

Whilst I was at the track on Saturday morning the strong wind was lifting clouds of dust off the surface even between races!

This eventually resulted in the B Group Class, which had the biggest entry, having a race re-started with riders in-line after a dramatic crash occurred at the first start.

Anyon Robilliard had a spectacular try at flying after launching off a bank. When he landed and rolled onto the track the poor visibility from the dust meant the following riders couldn't see to take avoiding action!

Overall there was a really good entry and a large crowd was entertained to some great racing.

I had to pack all my coverage into just a couple of hours as I had a list of other events but I ended up with a nice full Gallery of photos.

Lets have more of the same this Hillclimbing season....
09th April 2026

The Guernsey Motor Cycle & Car Club's 2026 Hillclimb season at Le Val des Terres started with a very positive note.

Firstly the day was dry! This is a feature we all hope to carry through the whole season, please!

Secondly, my walk down the pits on the way to signing in was most enjoyable and optimistic as new faces and machinery were spotted... it's always great to see additions to the line-up.

But the best part was noting the return of a few favourites. Charlie and Justin Smith's eye-catching Pillbeam MP43C and the stylish and fast rider Jade Ferbrache were notable returns after taking breaks of 15 years and 2 years from the Sport.

I was only given a couple of hours/runs at the hill before I had to move on to the next job but it was great to be back.

I know that there were a few issues with some of the new timing gear but I'm really pleased that I haven't seen competitors moaning about their loss of times and runs. Too often in the past there have been selfish remarks by people who failed to understand the complexity of the system and the huge commitment of time and resources given freely by all the organisers.

This tolerant attitude is something that would be great to see continue through the season too.

I captured some of the action and there's a new Gallery online if you are interested:

Guernsey Snooker Island Semi-finals online.....
08th April 2026

A real quickie post to give you a link to the Guernsey Snooker 2026 Island Semi-finals photo Gallery.

The North Social Club hosted the two games, one downstairs in the main Snooker Hall with the second being played in the very smart upstairs room.

This features two tables and apparently was refurbished and opened about 18 months ago. Its a great addition for local Snooker players. I'm sure I'll be back there again soon.

I've ticked another Sports photo box.....
06th April 2026

I had to make a short detour when I left the GMC&CC Hillclimb at Les Val des Terres on Monday.

Before I headed off to the GFC v Forest Row football at Victoria Park I made the steep climb up Havelet hill towards the Dorset Arms.

I was assigned to photograph the Guernsey Pool Association's A7 Easter Cup competition.

This was a first for me and another Sport's box ticked. I've already photographed Snooker (many times) and Bar Billiards. So I've had to add another Photo Gallery to the website.

The first of many Easter jobs,,,,,,
05th April 2026

This was another event on the long list of Easter 2026 assignments.

The 2026 Badminton Open was the 'starter' on Friday evening.

Badminton is always a challenge to photograph but when it is at the Guernsey Badminton Association LBG Easter Open the difficulty ratchets up a notch!

The 2026 Guernsey Open had an incredible entry meaning that the action on court was literally non-stop. This greatly reduced my access and opportunity to move around to frame my shots!

When those situations occur there is only one option for a photographer and that is to focus, concentrate on what is possible and get to work!

I've just added a Gallery of the photos I managed to capture. I know they could have been better.... but at least I know I did the best I could....

Busy, busy, busy.... just as I like it!
03rd April 2026

Easter always seems to herald the time of year when Sports and Social events really start coming up to speed.

This year certainly isn't any different as the Easter 2026 weekend sees me committed to photograph eleven events.

They vary from a GVC Criterium to a Church Craft morning, Motorsport racing to a Music Festival, Badminton to Pool and Football with others in between!

I love being busy and to top that off with so much variety is brilliant.

I've been working on some of the first edits and a new Gallery featuring the GVC Chouet Criterium is now online. Click the link to view the photos:

GFC knock 'em out the Park......
01st April 2026

What a decisive win for GFC against their closest rivals in the Southern Combination Premier Division League.

Guernsey FC left the visiting team from Peacehaven & Telscombe wondering what had just hit them!

The Green Lions put on a dominate show in front of a growing number of supporters at Victoria Park and the ground was buzzing after their 6-0 win.

My coverage of the game became more stressful as each goal was scored as numbers 1 to 5 were all scored and celebrated on the opposite side of the goal to where I was sitting... so no decent pics for me!

Then just as I was about to right off the whole afternoon Cal Le Lacheur knocked in GFC's sixth goal... and I actually got the pics!

The complete Gallery of my photos is now online. Click the link if you are interested:

Big balls and bravery are needed on the rocky Trials sections....
31st March 2026

Photos of the Guernsey Motor Cycle & Car Club's 2-Day Trials meeting are now online.

Due to other assignments on Saturday and Sunday morning I was only able to photograph some of the Sections on Sunday afternoon at L'Ancresse.

After the usual chasing around trying to find the Sections and making sure I had what was needed for my Guernsey Press submissions I set about trying to capture some more of the action.

My admiration goes out to the riders who tackled the steep walls and steps on the unforgiving rock Sections.

I hope my photos do justice to their bravery.

GVC riders make good use of gravity.....
30th March 2026

Helpfully, my first job on Sunday morning wasn't too early as we all lost an hour in bed because of the clock changing to Summer Time.

So it was actually a nice relaxed start to the day as I headed off to photograph the Guernsey Velo Club's Adventure Cycles Enduro Gravity downhill racing at Talbot Valley. This was ROUND 1 of the 2026 Series.

It was a busy morning for the Riders (and the photographer} as the racing was spread over three different courses. After each run there was a climb back up the steep slopes to return to the start-line.

The challenge for me was to try and be on the right course at the time the racing was happening... and then trying to be in the best place for an action shot too! Sometimes it is difficult - even dangerous - to move whilst the track is 'live' so some forward planning and a good recce is always a good idea.

By the time I had to move on to my next job I'd been able to capture some good action shots and they are now online. Click the link if you are interested:

No time to hang around when there's a deadline.....
26th March 2026

It was a double-header of Sports assignments last night. First up was Basketball at 'The Dome' featuring Imperium Comets v Titans Wealth.

After this short visit I headed up to Blanche Pierre Lane on a chilly evening for another quickie at the Priaulx League game, Saints v North.

The hurry was that my photos had to be submitted for the Thursday mornings Guernsey Press Sport.

Once that was sorted I've added a couple of photo Galleries featuring the pics. Click the links if you are interested:

My false hope that summer had arrived.....
25th March 2026

This was the first of the two motorsport events I covered on a beach at the weekend.

The weather was so nice at Vazon that we kidded ourselves that summer was really just around the corner!

But today proves that it was far too early to pack away the thermals as I think one of tonight's jobs up at Blanche Pierre Lane is going to be a bit chilly!

Hopefully following the football action between St Martins and North will keep me warm!

But the sun was great whilst it lasted.

A celebration with a smile......
24th March 2026

The GFC Green Lionesses sent supporters home with a smile on their faces when they played Havant and Waterlooville in the Southern Region Women's Division One at Victoria Park.

This was the last home game of the season for the Green Lionesses so it was a joy for the fans to share this triumph with them as the team ended a disappointing run.

I think that Heidi Dawber's face as she celebrated her winning goal echoed how every one of her teammates felt!

Great result. Great celebration shot. Well done gals!

The Summer championship starts under a blue sky.....
24th March 2026

Sunday's Banger racing heralded the (aptly named) first race of the 2026 Guernsey Autocross Club's Summer Championship. The bright and sunny conditions actually made it feel like summer too!

I was working on the local sands for the second time in two days after I'd photographed the GMC&CC Sand Racing at Vazon on Saturday.... again under a bright sky. I could definitely get used to this!

So it was great to be back covering this noisy and action packed Motorsport again. I think the large crowd of spectators were also well entertained.

I've added a new Gallery featuring my shots. Click the link to view them:

A photographers fitness regime.....
23rd March 2026

Saturday started for me with a visit to the DEKA Strong Fitness Challenge organised by Upgrade Fitness at the Aztech Soccer Arena.

Athletes had to complete ten zones which were promoted as the ultimate test of strength, endurance and grit.

I got into the swing with my own fitness challenge later in the day.... weight-lifting my 180mm-400mm lens on Vazon beach whilst photographing the Sandracing!

Those pics will follow later.

A beautiful Guernsey scene to add to the Duathlon photos.....
22nd March 2026

Proving the idea that 'every cloud has a silver lining' I benefitted on Sunday morning from the devastation wreaked on the Island by Storm Goretti.

I was covering the Guernsey Triathlon Club's Reservoir Duathlon.

The give-away is in the events title.... the usual circuit for the run has been around the edge of the reservoir. That course has always offered some nice scenic views for photographers.

But the Storm put paid to that this year! However it did offer a new opportunity and I planned to find another interesting view (maybe just a one-off for this year)!

I found a 'proper' Guernsey backdrop for some of my photos, a granite farmhouse. Add some low early morning sun combined with a few cockerels and I was happy and set to go!

It's what the record book says that is important.....
17th March 2026

When GFC faced Bexhill United they made their job harder than it had looked after just fifteen minutes of play.

Guernsey FC made an impact right from the whistle by harassing the visiting team and notching up two goals. But maybe scoring the goals within two handfuls of minutes lulled the team into a sense of security... we have this game, no problem!

Ultimately GFC, after loosing their early momentum, scrapped through with a 3-2 win and that's what the record book will show.

The memory of how they almost threw the game will soon fade.

Another win is another good result!

My photos are now online. Click the link to view the Gallery:

I think I need weekends to be four days long.....
16th March 2026

I've enjoyed another fully packed weekend covering two football games... the U21's Muratti and GFC v Bexhill United.

Also Sunday morning's Round 3 of the GVC Ian Brown's Cycle Shop MTB XC Series.

Adding to the list a Charity fundraiser and a Gig featuring SIX bands at St James on Saturday night I think I know why I'm now feeling a bit wacked!

All great fun though!

The Jersey U21's really did the business....
15th March 2026

Photos are now online of the 2026 Under 21's Muratti at Victoria Park, Guernsey U21's v Jersey U21's playing for the U21 Ambassadeur Bowl.

As a Guernseyman the 5-2 win by Jersey is not the result I was hoping for but credit has to be given to the second half performance by the visitors.

They were a different side after the half time break and clearly looked like the team that really wanted the win.
